Jurassic Park 3D follows two dinosaur experts - Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler - as they are invited by eccentric millionaire John Hammond to preview his new amusement park on an island off Costa Rica. By cloning DNA harvested from pre-historic insects, Hammond has been able to create living dinosaurs for his new Jurassic Park, an immense animal preserve housing real brachiosaurs, dilophosaurs, triceratops, velociraptors, and a Tyrannosaurus Rex. 

Accompanied by cynical scientist Ian Malcolm, who is obsessed with chaos theory, and Hammond's two grandchildren, they are sent on a tour through Hammond's new resort in computer controlled touring cars. But as a tropical storm hits the island, knocking out the power supply, and an unscrupulous employee sabotages the system so that he can smuggle dinosaur embryos out of the park, the dinosaurs start to rage out of control.  Grant then has to bring Hammond's grandchildren back to safety as the group is pursued by the gigantic, prehistoric man-eating beasts.

From February 4th to March 5th IMAX Melbourne will be closed to facilitate the installation of a new IMAX screen, the latest IMAX sound system, as well as the addition of a twin IMAX digital projection system to sit alongside and supplement the existing large format (1570) film based IMAX GT projector.

Our original screen and sound system were over 14 years old and although meticulously maintained throughout that period, they were nearing the end of their serviceable life span. Replacing them will bring about a noticeable increase in both image and sound quality, reinforcing our commitment to provide audiences with the ultimate movie experience.

The installation of the new IMAX digital projection system allows IMAX Melbourne Museum greater movie choice flexibility in the future, bringing moviegoers more blockbusters in IMAX than ever before.

The Amazing Spider-Man tells the story of Peter Parker, an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today, whilst at the same time finding his way with his first high school crush.

As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors, his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is an IMAX 3D Presentation.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Dec 2012), follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs, Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. But it is whilst escaping the goblin tunnels on the way to the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain that Bilbo meets the creature Gollum, who will change his life forever. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake the unassuming Bilbo not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious”, a ring that holds unexpected qualities tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot even begin to know.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (the second film) is scheduled for release in Dec 2013, with the final installment - The Hobbit: There and Back Again, to be released in July 2014.

What we know so far...
Little is known about Prometheus' plotline, but what we can share with you, is that similar to Ridley Scott’s original ‘Alien’ (1979) it is for the most part set in space.
