James Cameron commits to only making AVATAR movies
James Cameron is a busy man, working on the next AVATAR sequels, diving to record breaking depths and acting as an American film industry tourism ambassador to China. So how much time does he have left for making movies?
“I’m in the AVATAR business. Period. That’s it.” James Cameron said in an interview with The New York Times from his China trip.
“I’m making AVATAR 2, AVATAR 3 and maybe AVATAR 4 and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies.”
Cameron is a strong believer that everything he needs to say, in terms of the state of the world, can be done so within the AVATAR landscape and anything that can’t be said through this can be portrayed in his documentaries.
Cameron is currently working on the Deep Sea Challenge project, in which he made a record breaking solo dive to the earth’s deepest point. He plans to turn this into a documentary film with a planned release for early next year.
We’re sure the question on everyone’s lips is, how is AVATAR'S production going? Well, Cameron also mentioned a bit more about its progress, “We’ve spent the last year and a half on software development and pipeline development.”
“So we’ve been mostly working on the tool set, the production pipeline, setting up the new stages in Los Angeles, setting up the new visual effects pipeline in New Zealand, that sort of thing. And, by the way, writing.”
So, will the next AVATAR sequels be the last time we see James Cameron’s ingenious talent for making movie blockbusters? We will have to wait and see.....
