The Dark Knight Rises again in IMAX!

The Dark Knight Rises again in IMAX!

Chris Nolan changed the movie going experience forever with his spectacular IMAX cityscape and action scenes in The Dark Knight. Those of you who were lucky enough to see The Dark Knight at IMAX Melbourne Museum will know exactly what we are talking about.

Nolan has now confirmed that the future of the third Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, will be in IMAX and not in 3D, the direction that most directors and studios are now moving in.

“We want the look and feel of the film to be faithful to what has come before in the first two films,” Nolan said. “There was a large canvas and operatic sweep to The Dark Knight and we want to make a film that will carry on with that look and feel.”

Nolan plans bigger and better things for The Dark Knight Rises and believes that using IMAX and high-definition cameras will achieve that.

“The commitment to IMAX and high-definition cameras will enable Nolan to avoid the dim-image challenges that come with 3-D. He said it will let him take the third film in the series into a new stratum as far as image quality and the scale that can be achieved with that quality,” Geoff  Boucher writes in his recent LA Times, Hero Complex article.

Filming for The Dark Knight Rises begins in April 2011, with a planned release sometime in 2012.
