Does Prometheus share strands of Alien’s DNA ....??

Although Ridley Scott himself has battled time and time again to assure us that Prometheus is not a direct prequel to Alien, but rather a stand-alone film, it has become evident that there are distinct ties between this latest release and the original Alien

Clue #1:  In a fictional TED conference (created as a viral marketing scheme by FOX to promote Prometheus), Scott introduced a very noticeable character which would further prove speculation that Prometheus is a prequel to Alien...check it out here.

Clue #2: In addition to this, in celebration of “the company's 50th anniversary" (“The Company” being Weyland Industries), FOX also launched– a website featuring a link to this TED video as well as detailed information about Project Prometheus

The inclusion of Weyland Industries is a major focal point as it ties Alien and Prometheus together; Weyland Industries is the same company responsible for both the Nostromo (the name of the starship from Alien) and Prometheus expeditions. Scott states that this is the only tie between Alien and Prometheus, and although Prometheus may still be considered a stand alone film, the obvious connections cannot be mistaken.
