Go big or stay home. The Dark Knight Rises will now include over an hour of IMAX footage!
In an interview with Chris Nolan, The Wall Street Journal has just confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises will include over one hour of IMAX footage.
For those of you that are unaware of what this means, selected scenes from The Dark Knight Rises will expand to completely fill our giant IMAX screen, that’s a full 7 storeys high and 23 meters wide of Batman and Bane. IMAX fans that watched The Dark Knight here at IMAX Melbourne Museum, which included 40 minutes of IMAX footage, will advocate that it will blow your mind!
Nolan’s childhood love and wonder for IMAX films has made him the IMAX pioneer he is today, insisting on using IMAX cameras to film parts of his latest Batman epic The Dark Knight Rises.
Nolan reminisces about his childhood experiences visiting the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and watching IMAX movies, "I remember looking at the audience every time a helicopter banked, and everyone was leaning slightly to the side.” “I had never seen an audience so immersed in a film."
Directors such as J.J. Abrams (Star Trek), Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol) and Michael Bay (Transformers), have followed in Nolan’s footsteps, increasingly using IMAX cameras to shoot scenes for their movies.
