STAR TREK 2 and THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE set to use IMAX cameras
Some exciting 2013 IMAX movie release information was just announced by IMAX Corporation this week.
The sequel to J.J. Abrams 2009 blockbuster, STAR TREK, is set to be released in immersive IMAX 3D and include IMAX sequences.
Following on the heels of Paramount Pictures’ and Bad Robot’s 2011 hit, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCAL, J.J. Abrams has also taken full advantage of the IMAX camera as well as the clarity and scope that The IMAX Experience provides in order to transport fans into the 23rd century world of STAR TREK. Several key sections of the film featuring big action scenes have been captured with IMAX cameras, which has become an integral tool for visionary filmmakers to tell their amazing stories. STAR TREK 2 3D will be released on 17 May, 2012.
Director Francis Lawrence will also utilise IMAX cameras in filming portions of the second film in the widely popular franchise. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is set for release on 22 November, 2013.
Exclusively in IMAX theatres, sequences shot with the extremely high-resolution cameras will expand to fill the entire screen with unprecedented crispness and clarity, putting moviegoers right into the action.
