The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Return to the magic of Middle Earth with 2012’s most anticipated film; The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
From Academy Award® winning filmmaker Peter Jackson, comes the giant screen adaptation of the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. Filmed as a two part epic fantasy film (the second movie is pegged for release in Dec 2013), both are once again set in Middle-earth, 60 years before Frodo’s adventures in Lord Of The Rings.
For those unfamiliar with the story, The Hobbit it is essentially a prequel to Lord of the Rings, following the quest of Bilbo Baggins as he sets out to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. It is during a daring escape from the Goblin Tunnels that Bilbo meets Gollum, a creature that will change his life forever, and also gain possession Gollum’s ‘precious’ - a ring that is tied to the fate of all of Middle-earth.
Much like Tolkien himself, who revised his original version of The Hobbit after delving into deeper, darker territory in the trilogy that followed, rumours surround Jackson’s storyline which may deviate from the book’s plot a little to help prefigure the rise of evil in Middle Earth and segway comfortably into the Lord of The Rings movie adaptation.
Whilst speculation about the plot is rife, what is certain is that the The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey is one of the most anticipated films of 2012 that will immerse viewers into the magic of Middle Earth.
